Marblehead Piece 283

This original painting was apparently intended for a brochure advertising Marblehead Pottery.

It was painted by Margaret Oliver Hewlett, an early pioneer of graphic advertising art who had been a  teacher at a Stroudsburg, PA college.

The piece was purchased from a seller in Upstate NY on e-bay in 2007.

It is peculiar that the pieces depicted do not really resemble Marblehead pottery in glaze, shape and decoration.

Provenance purchased from Nine Carolina Antiques Aug 7/2007
